When it comes to garments and getting a great fit, measuring yourself is key!

How to measure yourself:

The main measurement you will need when ordering is your bust measurement. Using a tape, measure around the fullest part of your bust, close to the skin but without pulling tight (see the illustration for reference.) This number is what you will use to make a decision on what size to pick!

You will also need to consider your hip measurement, especially with dresses. For this, take your tape measure and measure around the fullest part of your hips, again, not too tight, and ideally you should be able to get a finger between you and the tape measure. This measurement will give you an idea of what size hip you should go for.

With these two measurements, you should choose you size based on the closest to your measurement number. If you are in-between sizes, choose based on your bust - there is more ease in the hips of the skirt, so should be comfortable.

If you are unsure, do get in though and we can discuss what size is the best fit for you!

Two other measurements you may need are you arm length and waist to leg.

If you want to check whether the standard sleeve lengths work for you, or you want to have custom adjustments, then using your tape measure measure from the top of your shoulder to your desired length of your arm (full length sleeves usually stop at the wrist.) This will be your sleeve measurement.

To measure the length of the skirt, measure from your natural waist (the part that bends when leaning to the side) to where you would like the skirt to stop at your legs. This will be your skirt length measurement.

As items are made by hand to order, we will try our best to create your garments as close to the specified measurements as possible, but some slight variation may be expected.

The Julie Dress measurements:

The Julie Dress has a semi-fitted bodice, relaxed fit with a gathered waist, so it's best to pick your size based on your bust measurements. There is approx. 2 inches of bust ease, which means you'll have a little room extra from these measurements, and the gathered skirt means there is approx. 4 inches of ease in the skirt.

The Quilted Jacket measurements:

These jackets are sleeveless, quilted and without front fastenings. They are designed to be a boxy, oversized fit, so you can layer clothes underneath. I recommend choosing your bust size, or size up for a larger oversized look.

After Care: How to look after your items

The garments you purchase are designed to be worn multiple times, and should be taken care of in order to do this.

Only washing when needed is great for both the environment and your items, and if they do need cleaning then hand wash is always best. However if this isn't possible then a cool wash is advised, no tumble drying.

You should also wash inside out to maintain the look of the outside of the item, and placed inside a laundry bag is also great!
